Laser cutting FAQs
How much does laser cutting cost in Raleigh?
Machine time bills at $95 per hour with a $150 project minimum — most small jobs land between $150 and $400, and quantity 1 is fine. Need a fixed price instead? The Prototype Sprint is $299 flat and a Pilot Production Run starts at $499. Send your file and we’ll return an exact written quote within one business day.
What file formats do you accept for laser cutting?
SVG, DXF, AI, and PDF work best for cutting. For engraving artwork, high-resolution PNG also works. Don’t have a file? We can create the vector artwork for you from a sketch or photo.
What tolerances can you hold?
Laser-cut parts typically hold ±0.1–0.2 mm, which is tighter than CNC routing and well within spec for signs, enclosures, fixtures, and most functional parts.
Can you cut metal?
Yes — our fiber laser marks and engraves aluminum, stainless, and coated metals, and cuts thin metal sheet. For thicker structural steel plate we’ll tell you honestly and point you to the right industrial shop.
How fast is turnaround?
Most laser jobs ship or are ready for Raleigh pickup in 2–5 business days after proof approval. Need it faster? The Prototype Sprint ($299) puts a functional piece in your hands in 72 hours, and rush service on standard jobs is available at +50%.
